Intent
At Claverley, we intend that children will be enthusiastic about the use of technology and be able to make effective use of Computing in their everyday lives. They will gain experiences which will enhance their learning opportunities, enabling them to use technology across a wide range of subjects to be creative, work with others and solve problems.
Implementation
Classes have some timetabled lessons where Computing is the main focus; other aspects are embedded and so taught alongside other curricular subjects to ensure that links and uses of Computing in learning and everyday life are modelled.
We have chosen to use a rolling mixed-age plan to deliver the Computing Curriculum – the learning is categorised into three areas: Computer Science, Information technology and Digital literacy. This recently updated plan is currently being rolled out across the school and is being adapted to enable COVID catch-up. Modifications to the exact software, hardware and cloud-based platforms used are inevitable and beneficial in this constantly changing area – the key learning remains.
