Lunar new year

We learned about Lunar new year (also known as Chinese New Year). Lots of fantastic learning and lots of skills practised through making lanterns, carefully observing and copying Chinese writing, making a Dragon and taking part in a dragon dance in time to music and making and eating a special vegetable fried rice. We learned all about the customs of the festival and had some great fun!

Reading challenge

Hi all,

I have realised that some reading books were not sent home at the end of the day, so sorry! If your child does not have their book and they want to continue with the reading challenge over the weekend, please read any book and either write me a note or send me an email and I will make sure it is added to their reading challenge on Monday.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Maths homework w/c 24th January

This week, white rose maths have launched a new app called 1 minute maths. We follow whiterose maths school so it fits in superbly with our maths in school and will look very familiar to the children. It gives them quick 1 minute challenges for addition, subtraction and subitising (recognising a quantity without needing to count). If you are able to, please download the app and let them have a go. Subitising is particularly important for the reception children, the year 1 children are currently learning about addition and subtraction.

Making ice hangings

This week, children in green class made some amazing ice hangings using natural materials. We left them outside over night and they froze ready for us to turn out and hang in the morning. They looked so beautiful!
