Red Class Homework 27.11.20

This week your child has been set some English homework on Purple Mash. If you have any problems with this or your child is not able to access the homework online, please let us know on Monday. This needs to be completed by Wednesday 2nd December.

Year 4 have ‘Campsite Jim’ (this might appear twice but that that is an error – you only need to do it once!) and ‘Day Out’. These are both revision of fronted adverbials.

Year 3 have ‘Day Out’ (revision of fronted adverbials) and  ‘Alien Time’  which is revision of conjunctions.

Fronted adverbials tell you how, when, where or how often something happens e.g.

Before breakfast, I went for a run.

All of a sudden, Helen rushed out of the room.

Christingle

Garry made a Christingle service for all classes to watch today. Each child took home a little pack so that they could make one. Scroll down to watch the Christingle service.

Well done Ellie and Luca!

School photos – Monday 23rd November

Red Class –  children can come to school in their school uniform on Monday 23rd for their individual photo. They will need to wear their PE kit on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Yellow Class – children can come to school wearing their uniform but will need suitable footwear for a dance session e.g. trainers.

Another busy week!

Diwali

The whole school enjoyed an assembly where they heard about the meaning of Diwali and how it is celebrated. Jovan and Hannah were able to share their traditions via our Teams meeting. The children listened carefully and were amazed to see their friends on the big screen! Green and Yellow class enjoyed a Diwali day where they did lots of learning.

As part of Anti-bullying week, our odd socks day reminded us all that it’s OK to be different.

Spellings Week beginning 23rd November

This week we are learning about the prefix – ‘re’ which usually means again or back. We have discussed how it is added to the root word to change it’s meaning

e.g. root word = write and the new word is rewrite when the prefix is added. If you want to do more, you can find examples of other -‘re’ words.

Children in Need

Last Friday, the whole school supported Children in Need by coming to school in clothes which made them feel happy! The theme was all about mental well-being and all classes started the day by joining Joe Wicks as he completed his 24 hour PE challenge. The school was full of happy children who enjoyed the benefit of exercise and learning about the importance of dealing with their feelings.

We were amazed by the total raised at the end of the day- £456. Thank you to all our families for your generosity in supporting this event.
