New Reception Children

We are looking forward to welcoming our new reception children in next week. Emails were sent out on 7th July indicating the day for your child to attend and I do hope everyone received one then. Thank you to those who have checked as these things don’t always get through.

Your invite will be for Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th September OR Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th September. You will be able to walk to the class and drop your child off.

Times: arrival 9.10am and collection at 1.00pm.

Children in reception are entitled to a free school dinner on their mornings and the menu for the week is in the office tab and under ‘Meals’.

Your child will need to bring: a water bottle, a healthy snack (nothing containing nuts or sesame seeds) and their home learning journal.

We are looking forward to seeing you!

Important News!

We have got to the end of the most unusual first week back. Thank you so much to everyone for your support especially with the staggered start and end to the day. We have tried to reduce the waiting times for some of our families by allowing siblings in if a long wait would cause more congestion. Your prompt arrivals and collections are much appreciated.

I am sure there will have been some teething problems experienced by some this week and I am hoping that things will feel better as the weeks go on and the routines become easier.

We have had a great week with all the children in although they looked exhausted this afternoon!

Information

  1. PE days – the children are to come to school in their PE kit on their PE days to avoid changing. It is expected that they come in a school T.Shirt or a plain one of the same colour and their school jumper. They must wear school or plain black joggers. We are happy for them to wear their school shorts under their joggers if you know your child will be hot during the session. Some have been asking about leggings and we do not encourage them but accept that if they have PE on several days, they might have to wear them but they should not be ones with bright stripes down the sides. We would prefer joggers where possible.

DAYS TO COME TO SCHOOL IN PE KIT

Blue – Tuesday and Thursday

Red – Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

Yellow – Wednesday and Friday

Green- Monday and Friday

Miss Pullinger has asked if all children in Green can wear joggers on a Wednesday too for Forest School.

2. Coats– please do send your child with a coat as we are getting as much fresh air as possible and do stay outside if it is drizzling!

3. We were delighted to be able to serve hot dinners again and hope you feel this has gone well. The kitchen team have worked hard to accommodate all the children and ensure that the hygiene measures have been meticulously followed.

4. Reading Books – We have started with some assessments this week to see where the children are and what support they need. We anticipate books going home next week.

Green class will be sending books home on a Wednesday to be returned the following Monday and Yellow class will be following a similar pattern.

Children in Red and Blue class can bring a book from home if they have one they really enjoy. We will be giving books to them next week.

5. Clubs – we are aiming to start them back up in the next couple of weeks. You should have received some information today. More on this next week.

We struggled to get our virtual celebration assembly to work today but WELL DONE to all our children – you have been amazing!

Please be aware that I am teaching in Red class on a Friday and if any urgent information is required, you will need to email the office. I have had a great day with Red but it has been very busy!

Thanks again!

Have a good weekend everyone.

Welcome back!

I hope that you are well and are looking forward to coming back tomorrow. Please see the letter with a few reminders for the coming week. Do consider that as the temperatures are dropping, children will need to be dressed accordingly. The classrooms must be well ventilated and can therefore feel chilly!

Returning to School

Dear All,

We are really looking forward to seeing you next week. We have worked very hard to put a lot of measures in place to ensure a safe return to a new normal. I am sending a few reminders as I know you would rather be clear about expectations in advance.

I know that some of you will take this week to get organised so don’t forget that you can send your child with a small bottle of hand sanitiser and packet of tissues with their name on it. It is so important that all clothes is named please.

A reminder that jewellery is not to be worn in school and if your child wears stud ear-rings, you will need to provide tape to cover them for PE or remove them on PE days.

Children will come to school on their PE days in PE kit and can wear blue school joggers or plain black joggers with school PE kit on top. PE will start in the second week back (from Monday 7th September). You might wish to purchase some of the black pumps which can stay in school for changing into if trainers get muddy. PE days will be shared next week.

Blue class only can bring a small pencil case and all stationary will be supplied. Other classes should not bring pencil cases to school – again all stationary will be supplied.

Children must bring a named water bottle which should not contain squash unless there is a medical reason we should be aware of. A reminder that we are a nut free school and we do have a child starting with a severe nut allergy so please do not send any foods containing nuts. Morning snacks should not be chocolate or crisps.

Please remember that we are serving hot meals and the options are on the website in the school news section. There will be a vegetarian option added.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the holiday and we will see you all soon!

Exciting News!

Little Woodlings Nursery opening under new management.

We are pleased to announce that from 1st August, Hannah Edwards has taken over as the new owner of the nursery and provider of the wrap around care. There will be more details to follow.

September full-opening

Claverley CE Primary will be fully open to all children on Wednesday 2nd September. It will have a different feel but we are really looking forward to seeing all our wonderful children.

I know that there is a lot of information, but it is vital that everyone is aware of all the changes and guidance – so please do share with other parents, so that we can all work together to ensure that the new school year is a smooth, calm, happy and safe one for all children.

Please do bear with us, as it is all new for school staff too!  I am sure that there may be many questions, and we will be here to answer them.  Sadly, this will have to be by email or phone mostly, as with the increase in numbers at the start and end of the day, there won’t be opportunity to have the normal face-to-face communication.

End of the Year!

What a strange year it has been and this time last year, we could never have imagined that with the exception of some, most of you would be learning from home.

We are immensely proud of all of you, our wonderful children, who have done your own learning while being very well supported by your parents. We enjoyed looking at all the work you sent us, the pictures of the new skills learned and your ‘lockdown’ experiences.

As we are now breaking up for the summer, I would like to say a big well done to the children, parents, staff and governors for all their hard work and support over the last year and in particular this last term.

Here are just a few final pictures.

Dear God,

Thank you for our wonderful school.

Thank you for our families and as we look forward to sharing more time together.

Help us to be kind and look after each other.

As this school year draws to a close,

may we have a safe and happy holiday.

Amen

News

Mrs Davies has taught in Green Class for the last three years and she has been a valuable member of staff. The children have really enjoyed being in her class.

Mr Goodman, our sports coach, is moving onto a new role after delivering our PE this year. The children have enjoyed their lessons with him and will remember his funny staff lockdown video clips!

We hope they might pop back in September to say ‘goodbye’ to the children.

Goodbye to Year 6

Last Thursday, we invited our Year 6 into school for a socially distanced leavers’ afternoon. Although we couldn’t all be together, we were thinking of all of our talented and wonderful children. Some had been attending school and others had carried on with their learning from home during one of the strangest and unprecedented school years known.

Thanks to the parents, we all enjoyed pizza and cupcakes in the hall. We then sat socially distanced while we heard all of the Year 6 memories and as always, they entertained us! It was lovely that Garry came too.

It is with great pride that we are sending the group off knowing that they have experienced a very different end to their primary school years but have shown  resilience, determination and retained their sense of humour!

We know that you will all be great! Good luck to all our Year 6!

Next week

We are really looking forward to seeing the children from other year groups next week. Please arrive promptly at your given time. The children will need their water bottle and a snack. If it is sunny, sun cream must be applied at home before coming to school. Don’t forget a coat if it forecasts showers. They can bring a small anti-bac bottle if it is labelled and we will be doing lots of hand-washing!

See you next week!
