Paddington Bear Tea Party Thursday 22nd September

On Thursday 22nd September, the children are invited to enjoy a Paddington Bear afternoon tea party in memory of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The afternoon tea will include a choice of marmalade sandwiches or jam sandwiches followed by a fairy cake with butter cream. If you do not wish for your child to take part or if you know of any new or suspected allergies, please could you let a member of staff in Green class know as soon as possible so we can update our records. Below is a link to the wonderful video that inspired our tea party. Thank you.

HRM Queen Elizabeth II

This half term, we are thinking about thankfulness (1 Thessalonians 5.16).
This week, the children paid their respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II by working together to create a prayer to express our gratitude towards her. The children worked together in small groups to think of words to describe our late Queen and to think about what we are most  thankful for. The Year One children then created a prayer of thanks on behalf of all the children in Green Class using their word banks.

The children also made a beautiful floral tribute using hand prints and their own hand paintings of flowers. The children created their own individual name label next to their floral tribute. The Year One children recorded a sentence on their label to describe HRM Queen Elizabeth II.

Funky Fingers!

In Green class, we teach the importance of exercising the muscles in our hands. ‘Funky Fingers’ provides opportunities for children to promote their fine motor control by taking part in lots of fun activities. All of the activities on offer are aimed at supporting pencil control, scissor control and hand writing skills through fine motor strength and control.

Green Class love to sing songs before our Funky Fingers sessions to ‘warm up’ the muscles in our hands. This week we sang ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star’, ‘The Finger Family’ and ‘Incey Wincey Spider’ to get our fingers moving!

Getting to Know You

Here are a selection of photographs taken during our first week in Green class. Getting to know your wonderful children has been an absolute pleasure. Thank you for your warm welcome and kindness. I’m sure you will agree that every single child in Green class has done incredibly well at settling in and making lots of friends. Thank you to our Year One children who have been excellent role models for our new Reception friends.
