Safer Internet Day

Tuesday 7th February is Safer Internet Day.

This is a day to refocus our minds on a topic which we all know is such an important part of keeping our children safe. They need to build the skills and knowledge to keep themselves safe as they grow.

The focus this year is:

Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online.

In support of this National.Safety Online have provided these tips for encouraging open discussion with our children.

Maths Homework

Year 5 have been set some tasks on Classroom Secrets Kids. These revise finding fractions of amounts. This is something we did a few weeks ago – research shows that it important to recall previous learning in order for it to stick in our memories. It was great to see that homework had been completed well this week. Well done Year 5.

Children who are finding that they are a little rusty at some of their halving and doubling skills might like to use these fun games on Hit the Button. The web version of this is completely free and lots of fun.

Year 6 have been set pages from their CPG books again this week and should bring these to their booster groups as usual. The Monday group have been given p 37,38 and 39.

Year 5 and Year 6 will be looking at measure and learning how to convert units of measure next week. This will utilise and revise the decimal skills the class have been building over the last few weeks. It would be useful for the children to look at the packaging of the food and drinks in your fridge and cupboards at home to get an remind themselves of the units of measure used and how much things weigh and how much various containers hold.

Year 6 Maths Booster – Monday group

As most of the Monday group have said they would like to attend the PTA Movie Night on Monday 13th February, I have decided to move the session to Tuesday 14th February after school just for that week.

I hope that doesn’t cause too many difficulties.

Homework Year 5 – Maths

Maths homework for Year 5 has been set again on Classroom Secrets Kids.

Well done to all those children that have completed or attempted all their tasks again this week.

Homework it intended to support, rehearse and give opportunities to recall learning that has taken place in class that week. It was disappointing to see that several children have not attempted the tasks.

Please let me know if you are struggling with your homework – we can help if you are stuck. I am happy to allow children to complete tasks in a lunchtime club if internet access is a problem.
