RE tomorrow- 17.11.23

As part of our RE this week, we are looking at the celebration of Rosh Hashanah. It is often celebrated by enjoying apple dipped in honey. Children can try this if they wish but don’t have to. Please let me know if your child has any allergies.

Homework 16.11.23

Well done Red class for a great start to our play rehearsals this week. The songs are sounding lovely and you are already starting to memorise your lines!

I have set your Maths homework for this week on EdShed. Year 3 have got addition and subtraction activities to complete and year 4 are looking at either the 3, 6 or the 9 times tables depending on the activity I have set for you. I hope you are enjoying using EdShed, lots of you seem to be when we have used it in school.

Have a lovely weekend!

Red Class Homework update

We have given all of the children log-ins to Ed Shed. These are stuck inside their reading diaries – they have the username and password. The children have had a go at logging on and finding their assignments. We have set a link to the spelling games for this week’s pattern – prefix ‘in’, maths and tables.

You need to use your Edshed log on and password. This will take you to both Spelling Shed and Maths Shed.

We are happy to receive any feedback and if you have any problems, please contact us.

Kind regards

Mrs Harper-Jones and Mrs Derrer

Spellings for 10.11.23 (Red)

The spellings this week have the prefix ‘in’ meaning – not. The children all have a list of the words which we have discussed in our lesson today. They will be bringing home a list of the words and we are trying a new scheme to encourage them to learn and remember their spellings.

All children have a log in to ‘Edshed.com’. We have looked at this today. Children need to select the Spelling Shed and they have been assigned a task relating to the spellings we are learning. This is the first week so please see if your child can get on at home and play some of the games relating to ‘in’. These can be found by clicking on assignments.

Red Class – Times Tables

By the end of Year 4, children are expected to know all of the times tables facts up to 12 x 12. There is a national Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) in June for all Year 4 children.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/multiplication-tables-check-information-for-parents/multiplication-tables-check-information-for-parents-text-version–2

We are going to start learning tables in Red class by focusing on different tables each week. If your child knows more than the one we are learning, that is great and keep encouraging them to revise them as often as they can.

6.10.23: x3 (No test this week- we will be revising the tables)

13.10.23:  x2, x3

20.10.23:  x5, x10, x3

3.11.23:    x4

10.11.23:  x3 and x4

17.11.23:  x5, x10, x3, x4

24.11.23:  x2, x5, x10, x3, x4

1.12.23:   x3 including division

8.12.23:   x4 including division

Here is a suggested way to learn tables:

  1. Stick to one times table at a time to minimise confusion.
  2. Start with chanting and writing them out slowly in order.
  3. Then move on to completing the answers quickly in order – on paper or verbally with your child.
  4. Finally, move on to completing the answers in any order.

There are also lots of games to support with the learning of tables
