Homework 23.11.23

Well done for another great week Red class, you have all tried really hard. We have had another good week of rehearsals for the play and it is all coming together nicely. I have set your homework for this week on EdShed. Year 3 are either looking at making and adding equal groups or looking at the 2, 5 and 10 times tables depending on what I have set for your group. Year 4  are either looking at multiples of 3 or the 3, 6 and 9 times tables depending on what I have set for your group. I hope you are all enjoying using EdShed. Have a great weekend!

Homework 16.11.23

Well done Red class for a great start to our play rehearsals this week. The songs are sounding lovely and you are already starting to memorise your lines!

I have set your Maths homework for this week on EdShed. Year 3 have got addition and subtraction activities to complete and year 4 are looking at either the 3, 6 or the 9 times tables depending on the activity I have set for you. I hope you are enjoying using EdShed, lots of you seem to be when we have used it in school.

Have a lovely weekend!

Edshed (Maths Shed and Spelling Shed)

We have now started to set maths homework, timetable tasks and spellings on EDSHED for all children in Red and Blue class.

All the children in KS2 have all been given logins and passwords for Edshed. They should be stuck in to their Reading diaries. This will give them access to both Spelling Shed tasks and Maths Shed tasks.

You do NOT need to buy the maths shed and spelling shed apps. The site can be accessed through any web broweser and played on laps tops, ipads, iphones, kindle fire or any other android tablet. Of course you may choose to buy an app if you prefer.

These video links  and links to the Edshed help pages may help if children are struggling to get used to this new resource:

https://support.edshed.com/portal/en/kb/articles/do-i-need-to-buy-the-app-to-play-the-games-at-home

As well as the task we set the children are able to access other fluency games to support their recall of number facts on Maths Shed. Obviously, we would like them to complete the tasks set but they are free to practise as much as they like once these are completed! This is a good use of screen time…

Red Class Homework update

We have given all of the children log-ins to Ed Shed. These are stuck inside their reading diaries – they have the username and password. The children have had a go at logging on and finding their assignments. We have set a link to the spelling games for this week’s pattern – prefix ‘in’, maths and tables.

You need to use your Edshed log on and password. This will take you to both Spelling Shed and Maths Shed.

We are happy to receive any feedback and if you have any problems, please contact us.

Kind regards

Mrs Harper-Jones and Mrs Derrer

Red Class – Times Tables

By the end of Year 4, children are expected to know all of the times tables facts up to 12 x 12. There is a national Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) in June for all Year 4 children.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/multiplication-tables-check-information-for-parents/multiplication-tables-check-information-for-parents-text-version–2

We are going to start learning tables in Red class by focusing on different tables each week. If your child knows more than the one we are learning, that is great and keep encouraging them to revise them as often as they can.

6.10.23: x3 (No test this week- we will be revising the tables)

13.10.23:  x2, x3

20.10.23:  x5, x10, x3

3.11.23:    x4

10.11.23:  x3 and x4

17.11.23:  x5, x10, x3, x4

24.11.23:  x2, x5, x10, x3, x4

1.12.23:   x3 including division

8.12.23:   x4 including division

Here is a suggested way to learn tables:

  1. Stick to one times table at a time to minimise confusion.
  2. Start with chanting and writing them out slowly in order.
  3. Then move on to completing the answers quickly in order – on paper or verbally with your child.
  4. Finally, move on to completing the answers in any order.

There are also lots of games to support with the learning of tables

I know some of you have experienced technical difficulties when submitting homework, please don’t worry! I have sent Classroom Secrets an email to make them aware of an issue so hopefully this can be resolved.

Homework 8.6.23

Hi Red Class,

It has been a good first week back and you have all worked hard. It has been lovely to hear all about your fabulous half term holidays. I have set the homework for this week on Classroom Secrets Kids. Year 3 are looking at parallel and perpendicular lines and year 4 are looking at lines of symmetry. Please could I remind year 4 to continue to practise their times tables in preparation for the tables check on Monday. We have been practising in school and have had trial run throughs this week.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Year 4 Tables Practice

It is great that our Year 4 are trying really hard to learn and remember their tables. Thank you for all your support in helping the children. We are going to do the tables check on Monday 12th June. Remember, this is a test of 25 random tables questions from all of the tables up to 12×12.

Please encourage your child to continue to practice their tables. They have the login for Times Tables Rock Stars. Here are some other sites to help them.
