This week we are looking at a spelling pattern: word endings that sound like /ʃən/ (/shuhn/), spelt ‘-ssion’. We have already looked at two other ways that endings can make the same sound (“cian” e.g. musician and “sion” e.g. extension)
The spellings are listed below – these are examples of the spelling pattern. There is a powerpoint you can use to look at the pattern too.Year 4 Term 1b Week 2 Presentation.

I have also uploaded some ideas for learning spellings in different ways. The children are used to doing some of them in class already. There are some we have not yet tried in class too! varied spelling_activities
Spell Zone is a website which some children find useful for learning spellings. https://www.spellzone.com/curriculum/national-curriculum/years-3-4.cfm
There are free access areas. There is also an option to subscribe. I know some children who find spelling tricky have found it useful in the past as it creates a self learning path based on gaps it identifies.
