10.05.24

It has been a short week with lots of learning going on. Year 3 attended a multi-skills festival and did some archery and golf. Despite arriving to the venue late, after a short stop at Alveley Primary school, they showed great determination and team work.

We welcomed Hanro Swanepoel, the coach from Worfield Cricket club, who did some sessions with Green and Yellow class. Worfield are funding the sessions so that more children have the opportunity to access some expert cricket coaching and enjoy the fun sessions.

Some of the Year 6’s enjoyed their maths booster breakfast today! Thanks Mrs Benson – it looked delicious!

Well done Yellow class who took part in the RSPB campaign. We try to encourage our children to be Courageous Advocates – champions for change and that’s exactly what Yellow class did. They hung bird feeders around the playground and made some bug hotels to encourage more wildlife into our school. They received ‘thank you’ from David Attenborough.

Well done to Jacob who has given up his time to make a crisp packet blanket which will help to keep someone warm and dry. Another champion for a good cause!

This project came about from a visit to the British Ironwork Centre which is a great place to visit.

Wednesday 8th May – school photos!

What has been happening this week?

On Tuesday, two teams took part in a basketball competition at Oldbury wells school. Both teams played extremely well in their pool matches putting them into the quarterfinals. Unfortunately, they had to play each other. After a very fast and competitive game team ‘A’ went through to the semi-finals. They played extremely well as a team but missed out on a place in the finals.

The team came 3rd overall out of 12 teams that competed on that day. Well done to; Henry, Jovan, Iris, Poppy, Freya, Seb, Mark, James, Lilly and Darcey.

One of our governors, Nicola Edwards, did a learning walk on Wednesday. She was very impressed buy the behaviour in the lessons and the children’s enthusiasm towards their learning. They spoke to her about their maths and PSHE and were really keen to show off some of their work.

Miss Pinches went on a Safeguarding Network meeting and they shared a link for parents on ‘Keeping Children Safe Online’ which is n the NSPCC website. It is 40 minutes long and worth watching.

On Friday, we enjoyed the ‘Break the Rules’ day. The children clearly love this day and the opportunity to wear their own clothes, have crazy hair and bring squash to school! Thank you to the PTA for organising it!

Well done to our amazing Super Stars of the week from last week and this week!

Year 4 – Visit to the Pioneer Centre

On Thursday, a very excited Year 4 bunch left Claverley for an overnight stay at the Pioneer Centre. They participated in lots of activities including: Climbing, abseiling, archery, zip wire, an inflatable challenge and caving. They all tackled the activities with great enthusiasm and perseverance. They called themselves the ‘Electric Eleven’ and really did live out our motto with lots of encouragement for one another and all were determined to be their best.

Mrs Harper-Jones and I were really proud of them all. The staff at the Pioneer commented on their great manners too!
